Originally I wanted to try out the more coral/orange colour, but they didn’t carry any at the store I went to. I don’t know if they just didn’t carry it in Canada. I know that we were missing some colours for the lip butters. So I decided to try out 008 Peony despite feeling hesitant because of the glitter in the formula.
I think I should’ve just followed my gut feeling about the product. One thing I dislike about glittery lip products is when it’s not fine enough. When this sort of problem arises, it becomes a distraction because I feel like there’s something on my lips. It’s especially evident when I rub my lips together and it feels really gritty. You know when you feel as if you have crumbs on your lips so it bothers you until you can get it off? That’s how it feels because the glitter in the lipgloss is too big.
Revlon put the glitter in to create a smooth look, and I’m guessing to kind of help make the lips look plumper. The problem with that is when the gloss dries, you’re left with bits of glitter on your lips. That’s all I see when I look in the mirror.
The good point about the gloss, I would say, is that is has decently long wear time. That is because of the stickier formula. For those that hate sticky lipglosses, stay clear! However, it’s usually the stickier ones that lasts the longest so it’s a tradeoff. I don’t feel the effect is as long-term as it claims though. I’m not left with really soft lips after the gloss disappears as the day goes by.
The colour is semi-opaque. My lips are quite pigmented so most lip products don’t show vividly on my lips unless I put on a lip concealer underneath.
The applicator is just the general one we get with most lipgloss. It’s a rounded sponge applicator so it isn’t anything too special. I do like the packaging of the product overall though. I’m a sucker for Revlon’s quilt pattern!
If you’re debating whether you should try out Peony, I would recommend you skip out on it instead.
