Glymm February 2012’s Products Review

Just thought I’d do a quick little update on the items inside the February 2012 Glymm Box! I wasn’t really sure if I should do a separate entry for each item or not. So I’m just going to do a quick like/dislike of each product and a rating instead of my usual ones since most are just samples.

Mai Couture – 2-1 Oil Blotting/Bronzing Paper

[[ Beauty on-the-go? Mai Couture has the solution. This lightly powdered bronzing paper eliminates oil and gives your complexion a shimmery glow. No need to worry about carrying your makeup bag and brushes around with you all day. Grab a ‘papier’ and keep your face flawless. $24.00 – 100 Sheets ]]

Originally I thought there was only one sheet inside so I corrected that in my previous entry. There’s actually two sheets (lol). I like the idea of having a 2 in 1 product like this, but I actually don’t like using bronzer on my face especially when it’s sparkly. I forgot to take a picture of the sheet close-up, but it’s actually a really frosty, shimmery paper. I’m not sure if you have to be super oily to use this or what, but it didn’t do anything for my face.

Like: It absorbed the oil on my face fine, however with that said, I could buy a much cheaper one to do the same thing.
Dislikes: Not sure why it’s called bronzing paper because it just imparts a bit of glitter onto the face. I actually couldn’t notice anything until I rubbed real hard just to see if it’ll give me a glow like some bronzers can achieve. Nothing, just high amounts of glitter. Glitter makes my face break out so it’s a no-no.

Glamglow – Tingling and Exfoliating Mud Mask

[[ Lights, Camera, Action! Designed for Hollywood’s entertainment industry, it tingles, tightens, and lightens in 15 minutes, so you’re always camera-ready. Volvanic rock, French Sea Clay, and real pieces of Green Tea Leaf will give you super sexy, super radiant skin. 50ml – $78.00 ]]

Can see the sand and green tea leaves after it has dried up.

Likes: No overwhelming mud smell.
Dislikes: With all the stuff included, it didn’t do much for my skin. If anything I think it dried it out.

I think people that have oily skin might like this more because it seems to suck out the oils. Right now it’s winter in Canada so the weather is already drying up my skin, this I think made it worse. I also didn’t see it closing up my pores.

Just a warning, as soon as you put it on you can already feel it drying up really fast. I think because they want to make it exfoliating they didn’t smooth the product down. So it was like rubbing sand onto my skin. I was trying really hard to be gentle, but it felt like it was scratching my skin up. For that, I would say sensitive skinned people should be weary about trying it out. You can gently ‘massage’ your skin with it though when you’re rinsing it off because it has softened up with water.

Sula – Natural Shadow

[[ Keep your eyes looking flirty fresh with this trendy, easy-to-use Sula Beauty shadow. Enjoy playfully pretty eye shadow in gorgeous colors. They’re long lasting, easy to blend and made with natural ingredients. 0.15oz – $8.00 ]]

Here’s a picture of it with and without primer. A major difference. I have it on my eyes to show you guys what it looks like, but I did use the Etude House Bling Bling Eyestick underneath so it’s not accurate. I was trying it out before going out so I just took a snap of it in the middle of doing my makeup ::sweat::.

Likes: Seems to be able to stay on for quite a while without creasing. Not chalky, which I thought it might’ve been. Which means it won’t have huge fallout.
Dislikes: The colour is really, really light without eye primer on. In the swatch I did of it without primer, I had to do so many swipes with my brush so the camera would pick it up. With primer though it showed up very clearly. The colour is quite frosty though, in my opinion.

Didn’t think I’d like it much, but I do haha. For some reason instead of liking the more natural brown colours I like doing purple/smokeyish eyes o_O. When I do brown I feel like I look like I got punched LOL.

Burt’s Bees – Tinted Lip Balm
[[ This Tinted Lip Balm by Burt’s Bees gives your lips a hint of color with a soft sweet flavor. It was also voted Best New Lip Product by Consumers. It’s made with natural ingredients that moisturize and conditions your lips. This stuff really is the “balm”. 4.25g – $7.99 ]]

Likes: Doesn’t seem to give flakey lips, which is always a plus. The colour is beautifullll. I was really afraid when I saw the bright red colour in the tube. It gives a beautiful tint to the lips instead, just like it says. Lips are kept moisturized while on.
Dislikes: The smell is bad LOL. It says ‘Rose’ on the tube which I can get, but it’s mixed in with a bee’s wax smell, ugh. Doesn’t seem to improve condition of lips after. Once the balm is gone from the lips, it feels the same as before application.

Subscription Beauty Boxes ;; Glymm February 2012

After seeing pictures of people receiving their subscription boxes it made my shopping gene itch. I first saw LuxeBox who offer theirs for $12/month and thought I’d maybe try them, but after checking out the stuff people got from them I decided against it. It seemed like they like to sometimes include samples that people could probably just get at the department stores or Sephora.

Another company was Topbox, who seems to offer really good stuff in their boxes, but sadly they are sold out. When you register they actually say that you’re put on the waiting list. That made others confused because last week an email was sent out to those on the waiting list letting them know that more was going to be on sale on a certain date and time. Sadly I kept thinking it said 12PM PST instead of EST.. I was so prepared. I even checked the website like 2 minutes before 12PM EST out of curiousity, but thought since it’s 12PM PST I was too early. CURSES ::tear::!! LOL! Apparently it was sold out in 15 minutes. People on the waiting list were upset because they thought it was first come first serve and that we got priority because we signed up for waiting list first. TopBox sent out an email later saying that waiting list actually just meant you get an email to let you know when it’s on sale, you don’t get special priority. Even if you actually did get your hands on a box though, you would actually be purchasing June’s – that’s how popular they are!! So surprising a Canadian one is that popular haha!

Glymm and TopBox are both $10 a month. You would think LuxeBox would offer things that are much better since they are $12 instead but lots of people have been commenting that they’re switching over to Glymm instead. Looking at pictures of what people had received in previous months from Glymm I was excited. Not as good as Topbox but better than Luxe?

This is my first month and I have to say.. I hope it improves LOL ::sweat2::. Glymm says on their website that they send out their boxes on the week of the 10th. The 10th this month was on a Friday and it wasn’t sent out so people were getting impatient. Glymm announced that they were going to send it the next week because one of the items were late in arriving to them. Monday passed, Tuesday passed, etc. They sent it out on Friday.. LOL ::X_X::. Before anyone got their tracking number for their box, we were already charged for our March box. Needless to say, some people were not happy about that. I was just thinking to myself, “I hope the items are worth the wait..” When I opened it.. I didn’t think it was haha! Soooo I hope the items next month will be worth it!

To be honest when I opened it up I kind of tossed this aside thinking it was another card inside the box LOL! The actual product looks pretty luxurious for blotting sheets though, hey? haha! There are two sheets included for sample.

I actually see a lot of people unhappy about getting skincare products because they rather get makeup. I actually love getting skincare stuff LOL! Better to take care of skin so it’s beautiful so there’s less need to wear as much makeup right? hehe.

This was actually a full-size product! I don’t really use eyeshadows much though haha. Will test it out anyway some time to see how it does. Although to be honest, I’m not real keen on the colour they gave us.

Also a full size product! It’s super red in the tube. Hopefully it’s “only a hint of color” since I’m not keen on red lips on myself ::nervous::.

So all in all, the box is worth:
2-1 Oil Blotting/Bronzing Paper: $0.48
Tingling and Exfoliating Mud Mask: $10.92
Natural Shadow: $8.00
Tinted Lip Balm: $7.99
Total: $27.39
Price-wise it was worth it especially since you get 2 full-size products. So I guess my disappointment really just lies in the products I got ::>_o::.

Let you guys know how the products are after I try them out. If you’re interested in subscribing mind going through my link to join? :D
