This will be the last post I do for my trip to Vancouver in August! There were a couple more places that we went to, but I thought that this will be a good post to end it off.
Meat & Bread
370 Cambie Street
Vancouver, BC V6B 1H7
Meat & Bread has actually been featured on TV before as one of the places to check out. My friend who lives there for half the year for school also recommended it to me. The location that we went to actually borders between Gastown and East Hastings. For those that aren’t familiar with Vancouver, East Hastings is the really rough area of Vancouver. Literally once you cross the street over, you’re right where the bad part of town is. As my uncle had said to me, trust your guts when you feel like you might’ve accidentally walked over to that area. I wouldn’t recommend anyone walking there at night!
However, that doesn’t detract anyone from walking over to Meat & Bread for some food! The line was constantly long! The interior design encourages everyone to sit down together so there’s a long table in the middle of Meat & Bread. We didn’t actually stay inside. We got it as take out to eat as lunch at Stanley Park :P
We ordered the Porchetta. It’s made with roast pork, looks like the Chinese kind actually, at least the skin part. They crush the crunchy skin to sprinkle on top of the meat which gives it a nice texture. Really good! Should try if you’re in Vancouver.
Nero Belgian Waffle Bar
Robson Street/West End
1703 Robson St
Vancouver, BC V6G 1C8
La Casa Gelato
I love eating waffles so Nero was a place I really wanted to check out. It even has a 91% rating on urbanspoon! It’s located on Robson Street so it’s a nice place to stop by for some sweets any time during your shopping adventures. They have seats outside too, so if it’s a nice day out, it’d be a nice location to people watch. I was dying from the heat though so I made Josh sit inside with me LOL..
Josh ordered the Fruity with Brussel Waffles while I got the Bresilienne on Liege Waffles. It has vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream, hazelnut crumble, caramel sauce, and I added strawberries! It was really good, but definitely a sweet snack. I love ice cream with waffles though! Another place to definitely check out.
1033 Venables St
Vancouver, BC V6A 3R9
As always, I have to stop by La Casa Gelato while in Vancouver. Known for having over 200+ flavours of gelato. The newest weird flavour I tried was kimchi gelato and garlic gelato. Had to get a sample of wasabi to get rid of the garlic. The garlic one was nasty LOL. Tasted like I put a spoonful of garlic butter into my mouth. Also had mango wasabi, curry, and vegemite among other weird flavours. Picked Lavender in the end :P
