Revlon’s Lip Butters are definitely not new and if you usually follow any makeup review blogs or beauty gurus on youtube, you’ve probably already heard and seen a bunch of reviews on them. What was all the hype about for this product? It was a lip product that was supposed to have the moisturizing properties of a lip balm, but also the pigmentation of a lipstick. Did it live up to all the hype it has received?
If it’s a bit sheer then it’s like I’m just applying a bit of lip tint instead. No worries about getting color outside of my lips. Also, if it’s moisturizing then I don’t have to apply two things.
I picked Tutti Frutti since I usually pick orange-coral colours. I would’ve picked Peach Parfait, but when I went to swatch it, I see a lot of glitter in the product which I’m not a big fan of. I’m not sure if it’d leave a bunch on my lips after it dries up so I settled for Tutti Frutti. I was actually pretty afraid of getting this colour since it’s super orange in the tube. When I swatched it though it was much more sheer. I also checked out some pictures online and it wasn’t as bright as the tube. Actually, it’s pretty much the kind of colour I would go for. When I apply it as I would a chapstick though, it was pretty orange on my lips. Since my lips are pretty pigmented it appears more orange than I would like.
Since it’s a lip balm x lip stick in one, it’s not as moisturizing as I assumed it would be. It’s more moisturizing than most lip sticks I own, but it’s not enough for me to completely skip applying a lip balm underneath or lip gloss over it. If I just need to repply for a bit of colour, then it’s fine. If my lips are getting really dry, it would not be a good idea to throw this on top. It leaves a tint on the lips even after the product starts disappearing as the day goes by.
All in all, it’s not a bad product. If you want to add some colour to your lips without the hassle of lipstick, I think it’d be a good option, especially since it leaves a tint on the lips so you don’t have to constantly reapply. Plus, it’s very affordable. It can add a bit of moisture if you’re really in need of some and don’t have anything else on hand. I probably wouldn’t hype it up in the moisture department as much as it claims though since it can’t beat applying actual lip balm.
