Eve no Jikan
In the not too distant future androids have come into common usage. Taking the androids for granted, humans treat them as if they were common everyday tools, while on the other hand, some people empathize with androids due to their human-like appearance (save for a digital ring floating above their heads). This has become a social problem and these people are frowned upon as a result. Rikuo, one who has taken androids for granted for his entire life, one day discovers that Sammy, his home android, has been acting strangely and finds a strange phrase recorded in her activity log. He, along with his friend Masaki, traces Sammy's footsteps and come upon an unusual cafe. This cafe's main rule is to not discriminate between humans and androids.
The episodes are all around 15 minutes each so it’s really short. I thought that it would have more of a plot to it, but it doesn’t. It’s kind of a day to day life thing where Rikuo explores the cafe and meets its members one by one. He gets to understand the androids a bit more and grows closer to them so his views on androids change slowly. We also get to see why his friend Misaki dislikes androids so much.
I think there’s a movie out for it now that kind of wraps everything up a bit more. I think it’s only 6 episodes so there wasn’t really a closure for this anime. Was kind of let down @_@.. but it’s still kind of interesting in a way because these topics usually interest me LOL. I like animes that explore the android category.
Teito Klein is a former slave who attends the Barsburg Empire's military academy. Having no memory of his past and the power to wield a rare ability called Zaiphon, Teito is constantly under the scrutiny of his peers - except for his best friend Mikage, the only person he connects with. After seeing and remembering the man who killed his father, Teito tries to kill him and finds himself on the run from Barsburg's military might. Now, with the evil beings known as Kor after his soul, the Barsburg Empire after his blood and only the legendary Seven Ghosts to protect him, Teito must unlock the memories of his past before he ends up as a sacrifice for Verloren, the sealed God of Death.
This anime has 25 episodes, the plot develops a bit slow for me. It still keeps me watching each episode because I can see the relationships start to develop before my eyes instead of just telling me to believe it.
I feel for Teito because the boy really has it rough. He cannot remember anything about his past and just knows that he’s a sklave (slave) and because of that he’s constantly ridiculed by his peers. He’s only dealing well with it because of his friend Mikage who is the constant light to his darkness. Even so, he slowly starts losing the most important things to him and is tossed into a sea of confusion and rage. However, despite all the bad things that have happened to him, he is still very pure. He has a sense of righteousness and the hardest thing for him is to let someone suffer. That’s been a constant reoccurring theme for the animes I’ve been watching apparently LOL. Where’s my sinister characters?!
Oh right, that’s where Ayanami comes in. Nothing much is known about him. What we do know is that he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Many seem to be under his influence and are willing to throw their own lives on the line to help him. They never revealed what exactly Ayanami has done for them personally to make them so loyal to him. Ayanami seems to know about Teito’s Eye of Mikhail and now that Teito has thrown himself at him things are bound to get messy.
The pace of the anime might be slow for some, but I didn’t mind too much. However towards the last couple episodes it became clear that the anime was not going to have a tidy ending. I understand that an anime might not want to create their own ending since the manga itself is still publishing but I don’t really like having a major cliffhanger.. unless I know there’s going to be a second season or something. This is just like Skip Beat where it gets really good and they decide to cut you off! What if I’m not a manga reader ::tear::?
I’ll definitely be checking out the manga now though because there’s just so many questions and I want to know what happens to everyone!
