Aji Taro

4940 No 3 Road
Richmond, BC

We ended off our night with eating dinner at Aji Taro. All you can eat sushi. They have quite a big variety of food to choose from actually. The only thing that really turned me off about this place was the service. When we stepped through the door it was packed. To our left was the main seating area and then to our right was a raised platform that had a couple tables and booths. I was curious as to why the seats on the right relatively empty compared to the bustling side on the left. Instead of waiting for who knows how long, we decided to just sit on the right side.

We went pretty late 10-11PM?? It was super busy still even though it’s after dinner hours. If you ever go and it’s super busy, just wait for a seat in the main seating area. I was so pissed off with the service because well, there was no service. We sat down and waited for someone to come and give us a sheet to fill out. No one came. The only person that was providing us service was the lady boss. I felt bad because I saw her running around, obviously out of breath since the other waiters/waitresses are lazy. When we filled out our sheet we held it up above our heads waving it around forever. One of the waiters saw us. I had eye contact with him so it’s not like he doesn’t see us.

I understand if he’s busy with a bunch of dishes in his hands so he has to come back. He didn’t. He had nothing in his hands. Just looked at us for like 5 seconds, walked away. Like screw you, buddy. The only time they ever came was when they had to come deliver the stuff we ordered.

With that said, we did go back on another night because my uncle assured me that when it’s not so busy and we’re seated on the left side it’s not like that. We went in the afternoon a day or so before we left Vancouver and the service was much, much more better. Albeit there were different people working. Maybe that guy was just an asshole. But let’s face it, with a first impression like that, most people wouldn’t be going back. I know that I was against going back because of their service, but my uncle’s a regular and said to give it a try again.

We all wanted some alcohol that night. They didn’t have any special mixed drinks so we just ordered some bottled stuff. We jacked uncle’s beer to make it look like we’re drinking more cooler stuff than like a chiller LOLOL. Don’t mind my ugly pic. It was the end of the night so I’m like all gross LOL but the picture cracked me up.

I like how they show you how much you ate LOL!

Beaver Tails

123 Carrie Cates Ct
North Vancouver, BC

Was so disappointed : ((((!!! I think they changed ownership. The Asian couple don’t work there no more. ANDDDD the more upsetting thing is that they changed the menu. Back then I think they had maybe like 10 +/- styles of beaver tails to choose from. This time there was like 5. And it doesn’t even really count. It was like “original” “original + lemon” …. what the heck is that!!?? LOL!! This time there was an oreo one though that Leen ordered. I wanted my BC Tail!!

I was thinking about eating it so much and then when we went there I so shocked. Instead they now have more of those ice cream stuff, but I don’t get why. Beaver Tails is supposed to be unique and a better selling point. There’s already tons of ice cream places around -_-^^^^.

There was this candy/chocolate place near the Beaver Tails place. They actually had a bunch of candy in buckets and it was kind of off away from where you pay. I was thinking, “Wow, people could just come and jack a bag of candy and not know.” So either they’re really trusting or they think the business beside would say something if people did jack stuff o_O. They had gigantic candies man! Giant pixie sticks and live wires!!

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

Went back for Alan XD. We didn’t go travel to the end like last time because I wasn’t in the mood.. LOL I had flip flops on and felt like shit that day.

Jericho Beach

LOL.. So on the drive there, my uncle was like saying how we could either go hang at Jericho for a while and then go eat dinner or eat fried chicken on the beach. I thought he was joking HAHA. We drove by a KFC right at that point and he pointed to it and was like, “WANT TO?! THERE’S A KFC THERE!” I was giving him such a weird look haha! He wasn’t joking. I thought he was so we went back home to grab some drinks and snacks to eat. We didn’t sit on the actual beach though because none of us brought anything to wear there.

We sat there watching these people sailing. There were so many that day! Can’t really tell in the picture but groups kept coming. One of them cracked us up a lot. I think some people that are having trouble, the coast guard or whatever drives out to help pull them back to land. This one guy sailing… every time he was near land, I don’t know what he’s doing, but somehow his boat would fling around back towards the ocean and you’ll see him scattering to turn it back toward land LOLOL.

Felt so bad for him. He was doing fine beforehand and it wasn’t until he was kind of close to land that he started having trouble and the coast guard people would always just drive past him and go to the people further behind that seem stuck in one place. We were having fun watching this though LOL. I swear we sat there for an hour or so going like, “OH he’s close!! SO CLOSE!! OMG OMG!! OOhhhhhh, never mind!!” I would think if he just dive overboard and tugged the boat back he would’ve reached land faster LOL.

Actually before we came here we drove to Coquitlam to check out some Korean supermarkets because Leen and I wanted to buy some corn tea. My friend Akiko went to Korea the summer before and bought some. It tasted delicious – subtly sweet and especially good when chilled.

So we were driving down the highway and it was a major traffic jam. This truck in the other lane suddenly tried to pull out into our lane without any warning. 1) When you’re pulling into another lane you’re supposed to check to see if there’s any cars coming before even inching your car out to the other lane. 2) No signalling so even if we were willing to let you pull into our lane, we can’t because we had no warning!!

I was seriously out of it that day. Super tired and zoned out so I didn’t even notice that it was the same truck that pulled up behind us while we were driving. I was actually staring at it from the side mirrors thinking to myself, “That person behind looks like he’s tailgating us… am I just imagining it?”

I wasn’t. He pulled up beside us at one of the exits and he was bitching and threw something into my window. I thought he threw a piece of balled up paper. At that point I was so confused with what was happening my face was literally like @_@..???? While everyone else in the car was flipping him off because he was flipping us off. I was the only one not doing that because I was still so out of it LOL!! After I realized what happened I was like dammit!! Wish I could rewind time because I would’ve just opened my window and threw the rest of the coffee left at the bottom of the Starbucks cup at the effing dumbass.

Claypot

8291 Alexandra Road #105
Richmond, BC

Went to eat hotpot! They gave us fresh chicken to make the soup base ^^

We were playing around with the black framed glasses. Uncle cracked me up so bad because he left his actual glasses on and he was being a loser with it XD Alan’s being a unicorn!

Last Friends

Last Friends tackles issues that afflict the current generation. Michiru's mother has brought a man back to their home and she is bullied at her workplace where she works as a beauty parlour assistant. She starts cohabiting with her boyfriend, a good young man who works at the Child Welfare Division and the only person who can give her emotional support, but ends up the victim of domestic violence and becomes fearful of love. The boyishly charming Ruka was a classmate of Michiru's in junior high school. She has performed brilliantly as a motocross racer and aims to win the national championship, but as the story progresses, a deep worry that she can neither confide in her parents or close friends grows evident. Takeru is a hair and makeup artist acquainted with Ruka. He is a good confidant to females due to his kindness and perceptiveness, and finds himself attracted to Ruka but has a phobia of sex as a result of a past trauma. The three of them become house mates and through their associations with others, gain the capacity to be positive about life. -- dramawiki

Finished Last Friends a couple days ago. Man, that drama is depressing .  I know that it had a lot of hype when it was released back in’08 and my friend was telling me that I should watch it. I think I remember there were a lot of people talking about Last Friends vs. Innocent Love because it had the same writer or something. I’m not really sure why people would compare them when the stories are so different. They both deal with some sad topics but I felt differently about both.

I think the drama was done pretty realistically. Even though I felt frustrated each time Michiru went back to her abusive boyfriend, Sousuke, it happens all the time for people in those kinds of relationships. I was cringing each time I knew the abusive scenes were coming up .

The ending, although not really a definite one, I think was a nice one. Usually I’m the type that wants to have my happy endings LOL. This one kind of left it off a bit as a cliffhanger ending, but I think it fit the drama nicely. Like many possibilities could blossom from the ending. What I didn’t enjoy though was how they never truly addressed Eri’s problem. Does anyone really understand what her issue was in the drama???

I just remember at the start when she greeted her coworkers they just whispered about her and walked past (if I remember correctly). What was that about? I thought maybe she like slept with their men or something since throughout the drama she seemed pretty about open those sorts of things. Yet it never really spoke about it in the drama and even Ogurin, who isn’t one of the main characters, had his problem addressed. Eri got the crap end of the stick story-wise in this drama haha .

Yeah.. didn’t have much to talk about… just wanted to update something in between all the Vancity spam bahaha.

Aside from that, I just want to say that I hope everyone on the east coast is okay. I know it must be terrifying so I hope that the worst that’ll come is just a storm for you all @_@. Pretty sure if there’s a hurricane coming my way I’d be peeing my pants right now… jk… kind of? Can’t get one since I’m landlocked.. -shifty eyes-

Vancouver — July 17 & 18, 2011

Originally we wanted to go to the night market to binge on food since last year we were too full to try out what they had to offer. We thought we’d go on the 17th instead of 16th (the day we arrived in Vancity) because my uncle said the weather forecast said that it was going to rain that evening. He was totally wrong, it was sunny all day and on the 17th it was grey and ugly. I was disappointed because I wanted to go to the night market with Eileen since she only had four days there and the night market is only held on the weekends in the summertime.

(PS. There’s still time to check it out if you’re visiting Vancouver! More info here.

We went to eat at Zephyr to eat and see how it turns out after our meal and decide from there. It was only a tiny drizzle so we drove there anyway. It was pretty empty. Actually, I kind of like it that way more LOL! Everyone was afraid it was going to pour so there weren’t a lot of people there but since it wasn’t actually pouring, the vendors all had their stuff out. Last time when I went with mom it poured it all the vendors covered their products up to protect it so we couldn’t see anything anyway. We were, again, too full to try anything out.

I didn’t upload the pics, but we bought a bunch of knick knacks for Ashley as presents for when we get back. I ended up buying these eye masks because mine is dying BAHAHAHA. Mine is on the left.

Alan wanted that ugly thing LOL!! So he told me to pick one too since it’s cheaper buying two. Picked the rabbit since it’s the least ugly.

We did end up trying something cool though. My uncle insisted we try it since it’s not everyday you get to see or eat it. Dragon’s Beard Candy. Very cool stuff. It looks like the strands of silk or something and when it’s done it looks like a silk cocoon! You get to pick what you want inside – peanuts, coconut, black sesame. The coconut and black sesame were good! It’s sweet but only lightly and much like cotton candy, it melts in your mouth instantly.

Not as fluffy because it was compressed in the box and was in our fridge to prevent it from melty in the hot weather haha XD

Aberdeen Centre

4151 Hazelbridge Way
Richmond, British Columbia

Aberdeen… you know we went crazy at Daiso!! LOL!

I was low on cleanser so I thought I’d grab a couple at Daiso to try out. Why not right since it’s only $2 each? I was just excited to try out charcoal cleansers. In Japan, back then, our tour guide kept stressing about charcoal stuff. It was used in a lot of places apparently. I’ll be doing reviews on them later on (but I love it ^^!!). And yeah, I won’t blabber on about the haul in this entry haha!

We went to the Japanese place at the food court again (Hanabi) since Leen didn’t get to try it last time. Alan and Uncle went to buy something different to try while we were waiting for them to cook our stuff. Seriously… it took forever. I retract my recommendation that I gave it last time =_=.

We also ordered a okonomiyaki there this time too. I did see under that you could pay like $1.50 (??) to add beef, shrimp, mochi, cheese, but I assumed that’s to add extra or pick other ingredients to add to it. It wasn’t like that. They charge $6.00+ for a piece of dough with bits of corn in it. It was a big wtf. It’s like unless you pay $7+ don’t expect to actually eat okonomiyaki. The essential part of okonomiyaki would be the sliced pieces of cabbage, they didn’t even have that =_=?!?! What the hell, Hanabi.

Two customers came after us to order stuff and even their stuff was all served before ours was done. We had only two things D: Sooo slow.

I can’t remember what the place is called for this sandwich. It was in the food court at Aberdeen too but I can’t seem to find it on the page o_o. Sorry if the picture looks gross. We cut it into four pieces before I remember to take a pic… LOL!! It was fried pork cutlet sandwich, I think. Not bad.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Cambie Street at West 33rd Avenue

Vancouver’s version of Victoria’s Butchart Gardens.

Queen Elizabeth is a public park and back in 2008 some of the copper statues in the park were stolen. Thieves wanted to steal it to sell the copper back out. It has since been returned though so you can see the different color in cement where they sealed it back. I took pictures with these back then too so it’s fun taking new, silly pictures with them : D

Alan OBVIOUSLY had tons of fun with it. But look at this photo:

I wanted to do it like in those pictures on Tumblr where every frame slowly zooms in on their face, but whatever. I’ll just show you guys. Friggen hilarious LOLOL.

The girl’s obviously amused while her dad is like, “WTF!” LOL!!!!! Cracked me up so bad. Leen and I spent a long time zooming in and out really quickly on the computer laughing at it. Good times, good times. Miss my biyatch.

I was going to go up to it and try to make it look like he was trying to touch my boob, but I was too short for the task LOL! I was on my tip toes and the family there was staring at us. I suggested that Leen take my role since she’s taller, but she wasn’t close enough to look like he’s touching her inappropriately.. LOL!!! But you get the gist of it.

Alan… always the pervert… LOL!

Can you spot Leen?

Bag models LOOOOL

We were trying to take a picture of us doing peace sign because of the one below made of flowers. This old man with this wife came by at that moment and offered to take a picture of us four. He kept bothering me!! LOL! EFF! He snapped it the first time and Alan blinked but he didn’t tell us. He just pointed at me and was like, “You’re not smiling! You have to smile!”
Me: I was!!
Old man: -raises camera to take picture-…-puts it down- You’re still not smiling!!
Me: ………. -smiles harder-
Old man: You have to smileee!!
His wife: …She’s smiling -exasperated look-
Old man: Smile!!
Me: …-forces grin on face-
Old man: -Takes picture- You weren’t smiling -evil chuckle-
Wife: =_=
I was actually bitching about it later because they left and for some reason they came back up a different path and I was like “……….” LOL!!

Alan trolling.. literally LOL.

EOS J-203 New Adult Gray Review

Back doing another circle lens review : ) This time we’re keeping within the same family the J203 New Adult series, but I shall be reviewing the gray one. For the brown one, click here!

1. Artificial lighting with only one side in. 2. Direct sunlight with only one side in. 3. Both sides in under normal lighting. 4. Direct sunlight with both sides in.

Enlargement:
Although it’s in the same series as the brown ones I got, I didn’t feel like there was much enlargement. In the pictures you can see that it still gave some, but it’s not a huge difference. If you’re looking for big dolly eyes, this probably won’t be enough. I felt like these gave less of an enlargement compared to the brown ones. I think it might be because of the colour. Since my eyes are dark brown, the brown lenses might’ve just further enhanced my natural ones to look a little bigger. Just a guess haha.
Rating: ★★☆☆☆ — 2/5

Colour/Design:
Since this batch was my first experience with circle lenses, I was pretty taken aback by the colour. Before I ordered I had wanted a grey one that was a little more visible. Some grey lenses look rather dark to me. I didn’t see any reviews on it yet, I actually just added it to my order form last minute thinking..”Meh, why not?” haha! The colour is pretty intense in direct sunlight. My brother saw it and was like, “You look like an ice witch.” =_= My friend thought they looked pretty though.

In normal lighting I think they’re quite nice. The squiggly black lines in the center help to blend in with your natural eye colour a bit better. However, in direct sunlight they look pretty fake, as you can see in the pictures above. I can see why Alan thought I looked like an ice witch haha!
Rating: ★★★☆☆ — 3.5/5

Comfort:
These are a pretty uncomfortable pair of lenses to wear. My first time putting them in it just felt heavy in my eyes. Like I could feel it laying on top. Once I got used to wearing lenses a bit more, I still never find it to be very comfortable. Definitely need to apply eye drops after placing them in your eyes. Even then I feel like it gets dry really quick. Not sure why.
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ — 1/5

Overall:
I could really fall for the colour of it when it’s in natural lighting but it’s too bright for my taste in direct sunlight. I’m not cosplaying haha. I think I could’ve dealt with it anyway if it was more comfortable. The short amount of time I could wear it before it gets dry drives me crazy. I wouldn’t repurchase this pair again, sadly. Also the enlargement isn’t enough and I’m not even the type that wants alien eyes ^^;;
Overall Rating: ★★★☆☆ — 3/5
