Happy Holidays!!!

Hey guys,

I hope everyone has a great holiday!! I’m guessing I’m going to be too lazy to put up any posts for the rest of 2010. So I’ll just go ahead and say Happy New Years to you all too : )!! Have a great year, guys. Even if you didn’t have a great 2010 I hope all of you would remember the good things that has happened – no matter how big or small they may be.

May 2011 bring you better fortune!! haha >< I just want to thank all the people that has been there for me this year. It's been a hard year for all of us, but we went through it together!!

A couple days ago a guy helped my friend brush snow off her car. He had asked if she had a brush. Thinking that he didn’t have his, she gave him hers, but it turns out he was helping her with her car instead. I was a bit amused because I’ve heard of guys doing nice little acts of kindness for girls, but I haven’t really heard one like that yet. My friend and I were talking about that little action the guy did. She thought it felt a bit weird a male stranger would do something like help her brush snow off her car.

Today, he taught her how to “properly” brush the snow off. Let me bring attention to the fact that today, outside looked like a snow storm. Wind was whipping snow to and fro. The last thing anyone wants, is to stand outside in the cold and snow, learning how to properly brush snow off the car.

Which makes me wonder: how far would a guy go to help out a girl? How far would he go to attract the attention of the girl? Not that I’m saying he’s seeking her attention. I’m just kind of stretching the situation or question further. How do you know if it was done just out of chivalry and how do you know if it was done because it was a tiny bit more than that? haha.

I was saying to another friend that I like when men do little things like that for girls. I guess it also depends what kind of girl you are. If you’re very independent or a bit of a feminist, you might not want a guy doing things for you. Whereas maybe girls that are a more traditional/princessy type, you might like it. I don’t know.. hahaha, it gives me a nice feeling in my heart when a guy does a small gesture like that. Maybe he might not mean any more more than to just be nice, but it’s a nice thought.

At the university, sometimes even though I’m a couple meters away still, if a guy notices I’m behind them or maybe they walk quicker than me, they hold the door for me. They would stand there and wait till I arrive before they let go of the door. Sometimes they let go a little too soon and I would end up trying to quickly reach for the door before it closes again, thus making the guy wait in vain LOL. If they notice that, they’d quickly reach back again to hold the door for me in a rush to catch the door from closing. I feel so bad because I’m still a fair bit away and they stand there.. but I’m walking slow because it’s icy. My other friend said it’s because they probably thought I was cute.

Really? I thought it was just done out of niceness… you know.. your manners and all that stuff. I mean, it just happened the other day at the bus stop when I got off the bus and was heading towards the bus terminal. The middle-aged/late middle-aged man was walking in front of me. I didn’t even think he knew I was behind him. But when he opened the door, he stayed a while longer so he could hold the door for me. My friend was like “He’s like -wiggles brows-.” He didn’t, but he smiled at me. Is that weird?? LOL. Makes me feel like chivalry is dead or something LOL (NOOOO!!!!)

Honestly, I do the same for people sometimes. Okay, I wouldn’t go as far as to stand there and wait if the person is far away. If they’re like a step or two behind I usually stand there for a moment so they don’t have to pull the door while the floor is all icy. The only time I would wait is if I see an elderly person behind. I hope they don’t think it’s because I think they’re cute hahaha (not the elderly)! Unless this only works when a guy waits for a girl?

Also, I smile at strangers in my neighbourhood. That’s what people do here… they’d walk their dogs past me or they’re going for a jog.. I’ve never seen them in my life, but we’d nod at each other and say, “Hello,” “Good Morning,” …… you know? HAHA. Please random stranger, do not think I find you cute. Unless I’m smiling real hard and giving you looks ; ) LOL jk.

Vancouver (June 29th, 2010)

On the way to our next destinationnnn

Lonsdale Quay Market in North Vancouver :)

LQM holds a special place in my heart… why?

Excuse my half-eaten one LOL… I was impatiently waiting for Leen and Fei while my uncle and I got seats.. Obviously I didn’t wait long enough since uncle and I ate a piece :B And.. we never took a pic of the original one.. LOL it’s hidden on the right behind the tin foil.

We each got a different flavor. Leen: Chocolate Hazelnut (pretty much nutella + powdered sugar), Fei’s had maple syrup (forgot name ><), mine was BC Tail (had smoked salmon/cream cheese(, and uncle’s was the original cinnamon. I remember when I was young (this was like 10 years ago) and I came with my parents. It used to be run by Caucasians and they had out samples. Alan and I would keep running back for more even though my parents bought some for us LOL. Beaver Tail is pretty much like elephant ears. It’s dough fried up and if you choose the original flavor, they’d then lightly butter it so that the cinnamon/sugar would stick on. It’s effing delicious with some coffee.. mmmm.. Since my uncle wanted the original flavor, I decided to try out the BC Tail. I’m glad I did LOL. It’s more expensive because of the smoked salmon, but it was so friggen good >_>. Fei’s turned out to be wayy too sweet. I took like a bit and had to gulp down my coffee. It still wouldn’t take the sweetness out. I couldn’t really take Leen’s either. But Leen’s a nutella lover and she definitely loved the Choco Hazelnut Tail LOL. I’m not a big fan of chocolate ><….

Before the trip, I kept telling my friends how I’m sooo looking forward to go to Vancouver JUST for the BTs. My friends were like alright then… But Leen definitely got converted LOL. BWAHAHAHA!!! Secret: I went like 3-4 times in my two week stay LOLLLLL.

So I mentioned before that Caucasian people was running that specific BT place before. I guess now it’s run by this Asian couple. I felt so bad haha! The first time I went with Leen and Fei, only the old grandpa was working. Two ladies were in front of us, then there was the four of us. Behind us were two guys. He was taking a longgg time. I think he was overwhelmed. This is what happens when you have Asian people running a place. They don’t want to waste money so they don’t hire extra staff on most weekdays. When a sudden burst of people come? WHAM! Too much to handle. He was like trying to run around the little place making the orders.

You could tell he was getting confused because he would take a couple steps one way, pause, take a couple steps a different direction, pause. I was like :(……. I wanted to be like “It’s okay, grandpa!! You don’t have to rush!!” He kept apologizing too. And later when uncle and I were getting seats, Leen had just gotten her order and asked if he could cut it into four pieces like he did for ours. He cut it and started apologizing because “[He] couldn’t cut it into equal parts.” …So friggen cute LOL I wanted to hug him and tell him everything’s alright.

Coffee on the other hand, from this shop across, was really bland.. LOL.. Note to self: .. don’t get lightly roasted coffee.

Museum of Vancouver

Yeah… we didn’t really go in.. I had no idea what this place is LOL. We just wanted to take a picture of the metal crab fountain. I saw the signs saying MOV after :B Actually, my childhood memory of this place was the park at the back. People love flying kites here. Back then, I remember a man flying like 10 kites at once. Apparently, he still goes there to fly it, but we didn’t catch him the way we went. There was someone flying a kite.. but he wasn’t cool flying 10 at once >_> hahaha.

Couldn’t take a nice one from the front because this lady was sitting almost smack dab in the middle = I would’ve guessed it was to cool off with the water spraying from the fountain but it wasn’t hot that day >_>

LOL!!!! OKAY, funny story. We were taking turns taking pictures on the bridge. I went on it and posed like that.. and I didn’t know Leen already took it. It’s not like we use flash and it obviously doesn’t make the sound it does with film cameras when you take a picture. I was standing there waiting and waiting, wondering why it’s taking her so long to take it. Then I hear Leen say, “Uhh…. you can’t stop doing that now… I already took the picture….” THANKS FOR TELLING ME LOL!! It’s a good thing nobody walked by that pathway when I did that =_=

Looks nice here.. but it smells fishy =

Another Vancouver Biennale 2009-2011 piece. Seriously, they should put a sign or something there to tell people all about it.. People that are tourists like us would probably be wondering why there are so many stop signs in the middle of the park haha.

Shorter post this time haha. We took a bunch of pictures but I don’t feel like posting the rest up…
